Translations Other than Games

While many of you might not know, I translate many things for developers, and in fact I am more trained in translation of technical nature. For example, I did a pitiful dedication to development and help files of RuMSX.
I have so far translated a few other important items. I'll put them here soon. :)

Policenaut manual
Complete translation of PSX manual, sans graphics. :( is here. Not of much use, but better than nothing.

fMSXSO manual
fMSXSO is a cool Japanese Win-based emulator developed by hQ. Strong FM sound emulation sugests promising future. Download fMSXSO and its translated manual here.

RuMSX
Since ver0.21, Japanese messages are translated by me. I hereby would like to express homage to Mu-suke, the great predecessor.

EVA player for Windows (updated 00/06/03)
With MEGA-SCSI (see below) and MSX, you can generate EVA animation files. This 32bit Windows-native utility (by Buppu) plays EVA-format files.
Leonard and me translated this amazing utility. Warning : Do NOT ask me for .eva files, since I don't have any.

Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles password
Though not a translation work at all, one of the most hard-to-find MSX resource is now available.

Kinrou 5th
Ever tinkered with .bgm files? MuSICA (Spanish for "music"), the PSG+FM+SCC music standard afforded by ASCII could never win much populatiry outside Japan. Until now. Kinrou (Japanese for "labor") 5th, the music playing driver developed by Kuroda Keiichi is now de facto standard among Japanese developers, for instance with MuPLAY pan-format music player. Also used in my utilities in music section and Hypnotic City tunes.

BMP2GE5e
BMP2GE5 (by Karif) is a splendid Windows utility that converts any 256x212 16-colored .bmp file into MSX SCREEN5 picture. Very handy for cross-development. English version is available.

Senga Editor
Senga (line graphics) is a field of GFX where Japanese MSX users are reserving its tradition. I shall add details in near future. Start by typing RUN "SENEDIT.BAS" from BASIC. Instructions are written in REM lines of SENEDIT.BAS. Once you draw something, Shirokami Hirohisa will accept your senga to include in his collection!
By this point (July 1 of 1999), Moheiji has built English Win95 version called "Saint Gabriel the 4th". Watch out for further notice. MSX-JE Documentation

This 40KB+ casual (?) document, first in English, describes about internal matters going on under CALL KANJI mode. All kanjis and kanas are afforded by GIFs, for convenience of readers without Japanese browsers. A MUST for emulator developers.
Masters of Konami SCC Sounds

SpanishJapaneseEnglish

A collection of all Konami SCC music and sound effects. Originally in Spanish; translated to Japanese and English. 1 disk can display messages in either Spanish, Japanese or English.

Trunks had made a version which allows you to select which slot a SCC is inserted. See here.

Ese-Related Translated Documents

Ese-SCC Documents

An Ese-SCC is an involatile SRAM cartridge which can produce SCC, which was designed by Ese Artists' Factory, creator of famous MEGA-SCSIs. You can make one to play Solid Snake .rom file in original condition. Maarten ter Huurne, a man who programmed English Solid Snake already made one based on this document.

MEGA-SCSI Documents
How to Make a MEGA-SCSI
You know this interface made from an ASCII type megaROM cartridge, which lets you connect your MSX to hard disks and various other SCSI-standard devices, even enabling you to play your favorite animes on your MSX. Aside from Tsujikawa himself, a number of Japanese users, including Niga which has his work featured above, managed to make them by themselves.
Many non-Japanese MSX users tried to duplicate this apparatus before, but to no avail, because of its complexity and lack of non-Japanese documents, not to mention the scarcity of electrical parts. Here I represent the translated document done Tsujikawa of Ese Artists' Factory.
This document alone is far from enough to build a MEGA-SCSI unless you have long experiences with MSX hardware. If you have real MEGA-SCSIs (some of them exported outside Japan) or Ese-RAMs (make sure they are not Brazilian clones), please compare them carefully with wiring diagrams contained in the archive.
If you live in or close to Holland, you are recommended to contact Maarten to acquire rarely found electrical parts beside a cartridge.
Download INQ.COM made by Taro to check whether you succeeded or not.
Use MGINST to install MSX-DOS(2) into your MEGA-SCSI.
There are so many MEGA-SCSI related software created in Japan so far; you can at least read their descriptions when downloading them from here.

Mapper Conflict Problem
Many European software hang up with Japanese MSXes with internally expanded RAM, to our headache and your puzzles. This detailed documentation explains why such serious problems happen, and how to avoid them. Document is in both English and Japanese.
Last opinion exchange took place on Nov. 7, 1997.
(1999 July, 1) Portuguese version is now here.

Fastcopy 3.0
Splendid disk duplication tool done by Alex Wulms (Xelasoft), which I translated into Japanese. Don't forget to optimize for your machine before using this, otherwise it will crush your disk.

Gosou_BAS

Gosou_Bas is an expansion BASIC system which lets you use .bgm MuSICA data and .mag graphic with ease. Currently, author Tarosan prohibits this to be uploaded on Internet, so please mail me if you are interested. Those living near Holland can access and download from Impact BBS maintained by Tristan Zondag. Here, you can listen to Konami music made by Kalasa Qaza with programs coded taking benefits over this Gosou BAS.
How an MSX Handles Kanjis

A must see for serious emulator builders and developers who want to support kanjis ROM. In English only.

FM Module Detection

Detecting internally and externally implemented FM module is not easy, occasionally causing your software unable to produce sounds on machines equipped with external FM sound chips. This section can be useful in such times. In English only.

AddRAM manual
TERRA NETWORK no longer produces AddRAMs. Remaining stock is few.

Translation of Personal Letters (and negotiations that imply)
I can translate any personal e-mails if I want to (and was given free time). Because of time zone difference, I can let you send or receive your mails in not much different pace compared to the case you do with someone in your own country. However, I don't prefer doing this, since this kind of labor slows progresses of topics on this page. Well, I will NOT appreciate if you send me query what I am doing as an intermediate person. I always keep secret if you want me to, and unlike normal translators, I can always give you suggestions about what people on other side of the sea tend to think, and, whom you are recommended to ask for help with your own tongue. :-)
I really want you to know that the fact I can translate, and whether the one you want to seek communication wants to reply are different matters. Well, in reality, it will become my part to persuade (an extremely tiring and risky business). This can always threaten my position, so understand me, please...
It is a very interesting fact that, if you want to make good relationship with overseas, you have to be intimate far more than average with those in your nation. MSX is, after all, a subject formed by people ;)
