Glossary of Hynpnotic City terms by alphabetical order

Civilization
Fairyland is, like conventional Final Fantasy
worlds, a chaotic mixture of advanced technologies
and medieval lifestyles. Hagane, a technology
incarnate, can develop ANY machine if she
wants to, though her lack of wisdom causes
her to create one inappropriate device after
another. Some of daily instruments, like
lamp in bedroom of Tamako, are magicked.
Clan
Clan is a certain group of fairies with certain
features of an insect (and similar garden
animal) specie. A clan always has a name
of the garden small animal it is based on.
For instance, Ladybird, Ant or Black Widow.
Some clans (like White Patched Butterfly)
are 99% identical to human, while some clans
(like Mantis) strongly resemble insect that
their titles indicate.
Color Kingdom
Color Kingdom exists as third world beside
Fairyland and human world. Iroyume is originally from the Color Kingdom. This
world, which represents direct "sense",
is totally made of color elements, and looks
almost like complex Tibetan mosaic. Though
most inhabitants prefers colors of one certain
tone (for instance, reddish or bluish) for
their skin color, self-centered and greedy
Iroyume prefers multicolored skin.
The Color Kingdom upholds monarchy. The kingdom
is currently ruled by Iroyume's parents King
Maroon and Queen Lapis. However, royals do
not have strong direct influence on politics.
The Color Kingdom is much more "fantasy"
kind of world compared to the fairyland which
is almost a clone of human world. Inhabitants
of color kingdom look like humans save their
colors, but they have special abilities which
are based on their colors. They use tools
like paintbrush, crayons and spray guns which
resemble painting instruments for various
purposes including combatting. For instance,
Minister Grand-bleu, the regent who serves
Iroyume, attacks enemies by bashing with
tip of his long hair which is always wet
with paint. The Color Kingdom has strong
military formed by the "color soldiers",
but during Hypnotic City storyline, they
are forbidden by Iroyume from affecting fairyland
matters. Therefore, Hypnotic city does not
feature any Color people except Iroyume.
Color people are generally obsessed with
and proud of their visual outlook.
Deku
Dekus are horrible humanoid robots which
resemble ugly girls. Prototype and mass-produced
models exist, and huge difference exists
between two models. See character introductions for more details.
Fairy
Fairies in this game are people who have
features (like wings) of insects, plus other
garden small animals like spiders and centipedes.
Fairies are divided into clans.
Fairies inhabit the Fairyland. They once
aided human world, but at the time of Hypnotic
City Defense War, they simply exist. Fairies
in this game think like humans and live like
humans.
Fairyland
The fairyland in this game is, unlike the
Earth and any bodies in our universe, a flat
land with vast width and no "edge".
People living in the Fairyland are called
Fairies.
Note there is no heavenly bodies like sun
and moon in Fairyland universe, though time
units like years and hours are same with
that of the Earth. Eternal void fills the
outer space.
Human world
In the world of Hypnotic City, humans who
dwell human world are fairly aware of fairy
world, but humans cannot directly interfere
the fairy world. Progression of time differs
completely between fairy- and human worlds
(and also Color Kingdom), therefore fairies
(for instance, Fairyking) who attempt to
interfere human world can access any time
in human history. However, fairies cannot
interfere human history which is not "made"
yet; which means late 20th century is the
latest limit.
Humans created Hagane through "imagination" and "rulership
over physical matters" - the powers
humans possess - in order to spy Fairykings
and interfere fairy history.
Hypnotic City
Hypnotic City is the capital of the Fairlyland.
Sumeragi always live here except when he
is in Insomniac Hall. Hypnotic City was founded
on the place where the Creature Keeper was
transformed into Rei.
Hypnotic City Defense Force
Hypnotic City Defense Force is a large number
of combatant fairies which Sumeragi the fairyking
summoned to protect Hypnotic City against
mass-produced dekus. However, Sumeragi never
expected them to repel Dekus, whose number
theoretically matches entire fairy population
of 600 years ago. Sumeragi simply wanted
buy time.
Though Hypnotic City Defense Force was initially
an uncommanded mob, Jigumo, a tailor who
was born and raised in Hypnotic City, became
a kind of leader during the continuing fight.
Though any noncombatant inhabitants of Hypnotic
City are supposed to have evacuated from
Hypnotic City at the point of Hypnotic City
Defense War, certain unrelated fairies like
Sasuyo's friends and Nusumi's thieves are
sneaking into the city.
Hypnotic City Defense War
Hypnotic City Defense War collectively includes
all events that happened in relation with
Hypnotic City during (supposed) last day
of the Fairyland.
Multiple forces are fighting in this war.
1. Invading Deku androids and their master,
Yumemashougun.
2. Hypnotic City Defense Force which includes
hired mercenary fairies and some of Sumeragi's
regular troops, and also Mujinkun the robot.
3. Marquis de Hentai, a strange wizard.
4. Neutral citizens, like Grasshopper Thieves.
Insomniac Hall
Insomniac Hall is a certain field in outer
space, 10000 kilometers above the ground
of Fairyland. Only Silver Swallowtails know
existence and access to Insomniac Hall.
Silver Swallowtail
This clan is special. Its members are not
normal fairies, but are divine beings. Chief
clansman, Sumeragi the King (who is a clone
of the Creator of fairyland) rules world
of dreams. He somehow allied with four other
"gods".
Formerly, Iroyume ruled "sense"
world, Akagane ruled all non-human beasts
and Hagane ruled matter world. Ginji was
a "marginal boy" who had a power
to dwell within barriers between different
worlds.
Silver Swallowtail clansmen have a special
meeting place called Insomniac Hall.
Weapons
Most humanoid fairies use primitive weapons
like swords and spears. However, non-humanoid
clans employ far more powerful bodily functions,
of which man-made weapons can hardly vie.
For example, Kamako's scythes can outpower
any projectile weapon when coupled with her
extraordinary hopping ability.
Therefore, there are very few actual powerful
weapons. Exception is Dream Gun, a mass-destructive
1200-cm barrel energy cannon attached to
Mujinkun.
War of the Minions
This historical event took place 600 years
earlier. The Minions of Muscle, which appeared
from nowhere, began attacking fairies and
Imperial creatures which were affluent in
the Fairyland then. They claimed their boss
is Marquis de Hentai, but no one could find
him.
More details are described in character introductions about the Grappler, the Creature Keeper,
Sumeragi, Dreamdiver Ginji.
